Method 1: How Do You Hide The Knot When Quilting By Hand?

For this reason, a simple quilter’s knot sounds pretty much impressive. Although there’s no reason why it sounds great, it makes the design look impressive and beautiful.
You can use the technique while starting with appliqué stitching or hand-quilting. The knot looks more or less like a French knot in embroidery. And here’s offering the following steps:
Step 1: Threading Your Needle
The first thing you need to consider is to thread the needle properly. Do it similarly as you’d do for other quilting fabrics!
Step 2: Selecting The Proper Thread Length

Step 1: Threading The Machine
The first step to anything that’s quilting is to thread the needle, whether it’s by hand or by machine! So, here, you’d need to pull up the bobbin thread. Pull both of them to the side.
Step 2: The Process of Inserting
Now is the time when you’d require inserting the fabric sandwich carefully. How far you go with your professionalism, ensure that you are doing it carefully.
Step 3: Inserting The Needle
Here’s what you should be following: insert the needle into the quilt sandwich you made earlier in the second step. But just keep one thing in mind: Ensure that the presser foot is up here.
Step 4: Pulling Your Bobbin Thread
Ensure that you are pulling the bobbin thread through the fabric’s top portion. To perform this, all you’d require doing is putting down your needle and bringing it back again!
You can turn the wheel on one side of the machine (use the back and forth technique) by hand while tugging on the thread’s top gently until a loop appears!
Step 5: Put Threads Atop the Quilt Sandwich
To do so, use the stitch ripper to catch that loop. After, pull its end through to its top. You’ll see both the threads atop the quilt sandwich.
As you see it, put down the needle into the sandwich. Hold both the threads to each side, put the presser foot down & start your quilting. After you are some inches away from the beginning point, bury the knot. Ensure you have room for it!
Step 6: Tying a Small Knot
Using the thread tails, you can now tie a small knot. Thread the tails onto the needle before inserting the needle into the hole where that knot has got established. Here, you can run your needle inside layers of the sandwich.
You can double-check its backside to ensure that the threads are not visible. Push your needle in the front (around one inch away) from the starting point.
Step 7: Pulling The Ends of Threads
As you do so, give a gentle tug to them. Ensure that the knot pops below the fabric’s surface. Make the starting point look tidy on both the back and front. If you run out of bobbin in the middle of the quilt, here’s how to achieve hidden quilt knots.
Here’s A Quick Tip When You Run out of Bobbin amid a Quilt
When you don’t have enough of the thread tail and run out of bobbin in the middle, follow these:
#1 Flip the quilt over & work from its backside.
#2 You can use your stitch ripper and take out some stitches to give decent thread tails.
#3 Tie the knot.
#4 Thread your needle and reinsert it through that same hole your knot came from
#5 Run your threads through layers and to sides. Give threads a tug unless & until you see the knot getting disappeared under the fabric’s surface. You can trim its ends. The knot gets hidden completely.
#6 Start quilting again and flip your quilt over. Begin in the same manner from when you ended. Enjoy your seamless starts & stops accordingly.
How To End a Knot?
For doing so, you need to stop sewing with around three inches of the chosen thread to spare unless you get pro at making these knots. Loop your thread to achieve perfection at making the knot.
Rather than just pulling the thread into the knot, you can place the finger atop the thread and hold it against the cloth where you want to end the knot.
